DAY 9. Dancing in the City of Angels / Bailando en la Ciudad de Angeles

*** ENGLISH. Welcome to my Day 9! Thank you for joining me in my series "20 Years in 20 Days" celebrating my 20th anniversary as a dancer. We're almost halfway through. I have already told you my beginnings, my introduction to the Oriental Dance, the Tribal Fusion, and several other things. You can see my stories starting with Day 1. The city of Los Angeles is a wonderful city for artists. I did not know much about it until I moved there in 2009. On this Day 9, I will show you some things I did in Los Angeles. I have to say again that hard work and focus on your goals, has its results, although not necessarily what you expect. If you have questions or comments, remember that you can write me below. *** ESPANOL. Bienvenidos a mi Día 9. Gracias por acompañarme en mi serie “20 Años en 20 Días” celebrando mi aniversario número 20 como bailarina. Ya casi llegamos a la mitad. Ya les he contado mis comienzos, mi introducción a la Danza Oriental, al Tribal Fusion, y varias cositas más. Puedes ver mis historias empezando por el Día 1. La ciudad de Los Ángeles, es una ciudad maravillosa para artistas. Yo no sabía mucho de ella hasta mudarme a ella en el 2009. En este Día 9, les muestro algunas cositas que hice en Los Ángeles. Repito que el trabajo duro y enfocarse en tus metas, tiene sus frutos, aunque no sean los que exactamente esperas. Bellydance Evolution

**** ENGLISH. A competition-show produced by Jillina. Indescribable. I was invited, I auditioned and won the “People’s Choice Winner” Award. Because of that, I had a solo on the BDE night. I met and worked with spectacular artists, including Jillina herself, Kaeshi, Sharon Kihara (the dancer that my roommate Juan and I could not stop watching on the DVD "Live in Paris", remember her? ... here you can read this story hehe). One week of total rehearsals, two nights of presentation, and a DVD. The photos and videos speak for themselves.
*** ESPANOL. Una competencia-show producido por Jillina. Indescriptible. Fui invitada, audicioné y gané el premio de la Favorita del Público de la audición. Por ello, tuve un solo en la noche de BDE. Conocí y trabajé con artistas espectaculares, incluyendo Jillina, Kaeshi, a Sharon Kihara (¿la bailarina que mi roommate Juan y yo no podíamos dejar de ver en el DVD “Live in Paris”, lo recuerdan?... aquí puedes leer esta historia hehe). Una semana de ensayos totales, dos noches de presentación, y un DVD. Las fotos y videos hablan por sí solas.

 

  

Ya Amar DVD

*** ENGLISH. The producer Dr. Samy Farag saw me in Bellydance Evolution. I do not know how, but he got my phone number and called me to invite me to be part of his new Ya Amar DVD. I felt a great emotion. It was wonderful. The DVD featured the artists Tamra Henna, Sonia, Stevie, Dana Amar, and others, including me. I thank Dr. Samy Farag for giving me this beautiful opportunity, and for inviting me for another DVD in 2012.
*** ESPANOL. El productor Dr. Samy Farag me vio en Bellydance Evolution. No sé cómo, pero obtuvo mi número de teléfono y me llamó para invitarme a ser parte de su nuevo DVD Ya Amar. Sentí una Gran emoción. Fue maravilloso. El DVD estuvo conformafo por las artistas Tamra Henna, Sonia, Stevie, Dana Amar, y otras, incluyéndome. Agradezco al Dr. Samy Farag por haberme dado esta hermosa oportunidad, y por invitarme a otro video en el futuro.

 

Sahlala Dancers

*** ENGLISH. As I told you on my Day 8 I danced with Sahlala Dancers several times. This included weekly shows at the Carousel restaurant in Glendale, private shows, and more. In addition to learning a lot with these dancers, I made a close friendship with the members Fionna, Cecilia and Jeni. Of course, the affection was the same for Heather, Louchia, Larissa and Jill. I was able to see them all again in 2017, in my Bellydance Evolution Tour of the West Coast of the USA.
*** ESPANOL. Como les conté en mi Día 8, bailé con Sahlala Dancers varias veces. Esto incluía shows semanales en el restaurante Carousel en Glendale, shows privados, y más. Además de aprender muchísimo con estas bailarinas, entablé una amistad cercana con las integrantes Fionna, Cecilia y Jeni. Por supuesto, el cariño era igual para Heather, Louchía, Larissa y Jill. Pude verlas a todas de nuevo en el 2017, en mi Tour de Bellydance Evolution de la Costa Oeste de USA.

Zahra Zuhair

*** ENGLISH. I also danced in Zahra Zuhair's group. We last almost a year to learn a piece of Indian Classical Dance with Mardhavi Sakuntala. I do not have videos of my adventure with this company, but everything was nice, harmonious and beautiful. Its members were always sweet with me: Layla, Nasila, Mirna, Kimberly and Farrah Talei, this last one was a special guest artist in my studio later on. Also, Zahra’s collaborators were very nice too: Devilla, Oceana, Lisa and Akiko
*** ESPANOL. Asimismo, bailé en el grupo de Zahra Zuhair. Duramos casi un año para aprender una pieza de Danza Clásica India con Mardhavi Sakuntala. No tengo videos de esa aventura, pero todo fue lindo, armonioso y precioso. Sus integrantes siempre fueron dulces conmigo: Layla, Nasila, Mirna, Kimberly y Farrah Talei, esta última fue una artista invitada especial en mi estudio más adelante. También, de sus colaboradoras tengo gratos recuerdos: Devilla, Oceana, Lisa y Akiko.

Haflas & Showcases

*** ENGLISH. I performed in several haflas and shows in the City of Los Angeles and other nearby ones. I danced for the first time with live music. The feeling is indescribable. The people in these places were very kind and received me very well, which I appreciate.

*** ESPANOL. Participé en varios haflas y shows en la Ciudad de Los Angeles y otras cercanas. Bailé por primera vez con música en vivo. La sensación es indescriptible. Las personas en estos lugares fueron muy amables y me recibieron muy bien, lo cual agradezco.

 

Telemundo

*** ENGLISH. I participated in a Telemundo program. Who would imagine!
It was lots of fun!

Los Angeles
