DAY 12. My Studio, new dreams, changing my country / Mi Estudio, Nuevos Sueños, Cambiando mi País

*** ENGLISH. My fantastic world, full of magic dust and fuchsia: Tabla. Conformed by Tabla Dance Studio -The New School of Bellydance, Tabla Dance Company - The New Art of Bellydance  and also the teaching program ©TablaByPaula. This was my opportunity to show that the Oriental Dance or Bellydance is art, which requires theoretical, practical and musical studies; and that it does not matter if you want to learn it for hobby, personal or professional use, you can learn it and do it elegantly, with technique, knowledge and as a professional.

I tried to provide an environment like a home, and at the same time that the students came out learning and understanding the dedication of a true dance. Every detail was made with a lot of love and planned to provide magic.

I feel proud of my contribution to the country. With Tabla, things were done for the first time in the country, and other schools began to want to exercise them, and still try to: Wood floor, drinking fountain, registration forms, logo, slogan, t -shirts with school logo, class in levels, exams, diplomas, same costumes for the troupe, promotion including the students, foto-locas, creative photo-shoots, and many other things. One of my gifts to the oriental dance community of my country.

My parents, seeing my commitment and project, supported me blindly. My dad and my grandfather, who are engineers, modified the place to be able to hold more students. My grandmother (RIP) prevented an Oriental Dance store from renting one of the family flats, and never missed an event at my school. She said that everything looked elegant and that I always danced with "garbo", like a swan. My uncle Pupito (RIP) also supported my events, on one occasion, he even threw a hat on the stage while I danced. My father and my mother supported me unconditionally. After all these years, they understood what I wanted to teach them, and they were proud of my study and work. My sister was always my bigger supporter with Tabla, from its opening to its closing. She was proud and emotional with the work I did with the students.

I hosted amazing internationals artists such as Omaris, Mariana Mauad, Farrah Talei, Kakim Nagi, Sakuntala, and more. I thaught regular classes with levels, special classes and workshops of Raqs Sharki, Folklore and Tribal Fusion.

I was very happy and proud to see how caterpillars became butterflies in Tabla. Not everything was light pink, but since Tabla was something so beautiful, not only for me, but for other people, my attention is only inclined to beautiful things that happened. Several people said that Tabla looked like a modeling school. And I think it is because it did not matter the age, shape or aspiration, I tried to prepare everyone as best as possible, from their points, to the placement of their chin. It is not because I wanted to be annoying, is that being a dancer, requires knowing and managing your body as best as possible, to be able to transmit your soul as best as your potential allows. Remember also, that my motto was that it didn't matter if it were as a hobby, for personal reasons, to exercise or to be a professional, I taught them with the standards of a professional performer.

We did many things, as I said to my Tabla Dancers: "shimmy para acá, shimmy para allá... y no ha pasado nada".

*** ESPANOL. Mi mundo fantástico, lleno de polvo mágico y fucsia: Tabla. Conformado por Tabla Dance Studio-The New School Of Bellydance, Tabla Dance Company – The New Art of Bellydance y ©TablaByPaula que incluye todo y también el programa de enseñanza TablaByPaula. Esta fue mi oportunidad de mostrar que la Danza Oriental o Bellydance era arte, que requiere de estudios teóricos, prácticos y musicales, y que no importa si lo quieres aprender para hobby, uso personal o profesional, puedes aprenderlo y hacerlo de manera elegante, con técnica, conocimiento y como toda una profesional.

Traté de brindar un ambiente como un hogar, pero donde todas salían aprendiendo y entendiendo la dedicación de una verdadera bailarina. Cada detalle fue hecho con mucho amor y planeado para brindar magia. 

Me siento orgullosa de mi aporte al país. Con Tabla por primera vez se hicieron cosas en el país, y otras escuelas lo empezaron a querer ejercer: piso de tabloncillo, bebedero en el salón de baile, formas de inscripción, logo, slogan, t-shirts con logo de la escuela, clase en niveles, exámenes, diplomas, vestuarios iguales para el cuerpo de baile, promoción incluyendo a las alumnas, foto-locas, sesiones de fotos creativas, y muchas cosas más. Uno de mis regalos para la comunidad de danza oriental para mi país.

Mis padres, al ver mi empeño y proyecto, me apoyaron a ciegas. Mi papá y mi abuelo, ingenieros al fin, modificaron el local para poder abarcar más estudiantes. Mi abuela (RIP) evitó que una tienda de Danza Oriental alquilara uno de sus locales, y no se perdió jamás un evento de mi escuela. Decía que todo se veía elegante y que yo siempre bailaba con “garbo”. Mi tío Pupito (RIP) también apoyaba mis eventos, en una ocasión, hasta me lanzó un sombrero al escenario mientras yo bailaba. Mi papá y mi mamá me apoyaron incondicionalmente, después de todos estos años, comprendieron lo que les quería enseñar, y estaban orgullosos con mi estudio y trabajo. Mi hermana siempre fue mi mayor apoyo con Tabla, desde su apertura hasta su cierre. Ella estaba orgullosa y emocional con el trabajo que hice con los estudiantes

Recibí increíbles artistas internacionales como Omaris, Mariana Mauad, Farrah Talei, Kakim Nagi, Sakuntala y más. Enseñé clases regulares con niveles, clases especiales y talleres de Raqs Sharki, Folklore y Tribal Fusion.

Tuve la felicidad de ver como orugas se convirtieron en mariposas. No todo fue color de rosa claro, pero es que Tabla fue algo tan bonito, no solamente para mí, sino para otras personas, que mi atención solamente se inclina a las cosas hermosas. Varias personas decían que Tabla parecía una escuela de modelaje. Y es que no importaba la edad, forma o aspiración, yo procuraba preparar a todas lo mejor posible, desde sus puntas, hasta la colocación de su barbilla. No es porque deseaba ser molestosa, es que el ser una bailarina, requiere conocer y manejar tu cuerpo, para poder transmitir tu alma lo mejor que tu potencial te permita. Recuerda además, que mi motto era que sin importar que fuera por hobby, por razones personales, ejercicio o para ser una profesional, yo les enseñaba con los estándares de una profesional.

Hicimos muchas cosas, como le dije a mi Tabla Dancers: "shimmy para acá, shimmy para allá ... y no ha pasado nada".
